We went to go work at our favorite coffee shop last week and instead of ordering the usual drink, we asked the barista to surprise us with something yummy and healthy. They put this beautiful golden drink in front of us. I blindly sipped it and turmeric danced across my tastebuds, pulsing joy throughout my body. Turmeric is hands down the most potent natural anti-inflammatory.
Turmeric contains a chemical called Curcumin. This is considered a health claim for Turmeric. Curcumin has been shown to reduce fever, congestion symptoms, and even acts as an antidepressant.
We immediately asked for the recipe so we can make it ourselves. Below is how you can make your own, or if you are wanting to work at your local coffee shop, ask for a “Golden Milk Latte” – you won’t regret it.
1 1/2 cups light coconut milk
1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk
1 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1 whole cinnamon stick
1 tbsp coconut oil
Directions:
In a saucepan, add soy milk, coconut milk, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and coconut oil.
Whisk to combine and warm over medium heat. Heat until warm to the touch, about 4 minutes.
Turn off heat and serve immediately
