Have you ever sat down at the beginning of the new year to set intentions for the year to come? I know what you’re thinking. “You mean resolutions?” Well not quite. Intentions are about who you want to be & show up as in this world. What do you wish to contribute to the world? How can you impact others? Intentions have no limits! They are expansive and can be a life changing practice.
Sit with yourself and get clear on what it is that you want to create, experience, or bring into your life. Give yourself the time and space to discover what’s important to you as you step into the new year. Living without clarity on what is important to you, or what you want to create in your life and the experiences you wish to have, sets you up to go about your year with no clear vision. It’s crucial to determine what it is you want to set in motion. Life may feel like it ‘just happens’ and that you are in the passenger seat. However, intention setting is a wonderful practice because you will slowly start to realize how powerful you are. When everything that you intended to happen, happens, you’ll start to see more opportunities. As well as doors, where there once were walls.
An intention is not something you attach an expectation to. It is just something you want to align with – it’s an aim, like a purpose or attitude you’d be proud to commit yourself to. Intentions are meant to come from your heart.
Checking back in with your intentions once a week or even once a month is a great way to keep yourself accountable!
Here are some great questions to ask yourself when trying to set intentions:
What matters most to you?
What makes you most proud?
What would you like to build, create, or nurture in your life?
How do you want to show up in the world?
How do you want to make people feel in your presence?
What would you like to let go of this year?
To give you an example, here are some of my intentions for this upcoming year.
Live a louder expression of myself
Act with courage in the face of fear
Inspire those around me
Lead with love and compassion
What are you out to cause in your world? Let us know your intentions and inspire others! We would love to hear from you!
